Separate But Equal

These two magazines are in no way affiliated, but the message is clear. This type of behavior is beyond unacceptable but I’m starting to question the very premise of having two separate magazines for boys and girls. What assumptions are we making about what prepubescent boys and girls should be interested in? I think it’d be very difficult to find an appropriate way to design either of these magazines where they wouldn’t both serve the same audience or be better catered to a specific interest.
